§ 5.8.7. A microzone 7. The right coast Podkumka, the right coast of the Kabardian, the western spurs of the Dzhinalsky ridge and the left coast Kich-Malki.

Finishing the characteristic of results of modelling of resource zones round settlements V-VIII centuries, I will stop on east part of the Kislovodsk hollow entering into a microzone 7. Monuments of the given microzone (and one settlement) make 28 strengthenings about a quarter from all settlements of a hollow during the considered period.

The cumulative area of their potential economic grounds - 168,7 sq. km (79 % of analyzed territory

Microzones). Percent of development of territory in this case the highest.

The density of monuments being here also is high, that causes features of modelled resources. So, the greatest economic areas the Silent Corner, the Small Saddle 1 and Verhneolhovsky 1 (1100-2900 hectares) possess located on periphery of investigated territory of strengthening. Less than 100 hectares by results of computer modelling are calculated for strengthenings the Deaf Beam 1 and Kabardian 1, being in close enough neighbourhood with other settlements. The basic quantity of settlements has averages value of potential economic territories from 110 to 950 hectares, and on the average on one settlement it is necessary about 430 hectares (Table 31).

From 2-7 to 80-85 % of this territory it is suitable for employment pashennym agriculture. About half of settlements (15 from 29) it is characterised by a parity of the minimum sizes of arable grounds to pastbishchnosenokosnym as 12-34 % to 66-88 % that is characteristic for system of moving of foothill Dagestan. Less than 10 % of arable grounds are observed at nine strengthenings (the Silent Corner, the Kabanogorsky Ring 1, Turkmenia, the Deaf Beam 2, the Small Saddle 1, Verhneolhovsky 1, High-mountainous 1, Kich-Malka 1 and 2). From 52 to 85 % of the territory potentially used under arable lands, it is modelled for strengthenings Hypothetical 2-4, Dzerzhinka and Kabardian 1 (Table 31; the Diagram 27, 28; fig. 255-257).

However absolute values of the calculated arable grounds, suitable for processing on the minimum removal from monuments, seriously to be separated - from 5,8 to 174,1 hectares at use of the minimum model of calculation and from 16,8 to 193 hectares - at use of the maximum model. The majority of settlements is characterised by rather small sizes of agricultural grounds, within 100 hectares, and half from all analyzed monuments has the minimum resource zone of agriculture less than 50 hectares. Some strengthenings thanks to presence of extensive equal sites of the landscape adjoining settlement, potentially possess considerable arable grounds the area from 117,8 to 193 hectares (strengthenings Hypothetical 2-4, Dzerzhinka, the Cane Beam 1, the Sultan-mountain) (Table 31). The Rest of a potential economic zone could be used for pastures and haymakings. Thus, for cultivation of cattle by the area less than 100 hectares possess the minimum resources of strengthening Hypothetical 2 and 3, the Deaf Beam 1, Kabardian 1, the Lermontovsky Rock 1 and 2; maximum (from 1040 to 2870 hectares) - mentioned above strengthening the Silent Corner, the Small Saddle 1 and Verhneolhovsky 1, the hollows located on periphery.

There is a number of certificates in favour of adequacy of results moedlirovanija arable grounds round strengthenings of the given microzone. It first of all concerns vicinities of strengthening Kich-Malka where we in 2007 for the first time had been fixed sites with traces mezhevanija (Borisov, Boxes, 2013.

With. 135-138). 19 similar plots by a total area in 8,5 hectares (fig. 183) have been surveyed and mapped, that makes from 8 to 17 % from the area of modelled arable grounds. As already it was mentioned above, the small sizes (0,1-0,5 hectares) have the majority of plots. Spent here pochvennoarheologicheskie works have confirmed the assumption that the given plots most likely functioned during an epoch of the early Middle Ages - practically in all cuts arranged here (Б-195 - Б-203) the I thousand ceramics AD, all about 40 fragments (fig. 258) has been found. The greatest interest is caused by preliminary results of the analysis of the macrobotanical rests received during washings of a ground from soil cut Б-152 where on depth of 30-50 sm together with ceramics alanskoj cultures have been met wheat and barley grains similar received in shurfe 2, arranged on settlement Kich-Malka 1 (definition k.b.n. E.J.Lebedevoj). This the first and meanwhile the unique authentic certificate of cultivation of the given agricultural crops inhabitants of the Kislovodsk hollow of an epoch of the early Middle Ages on sites with mezhevymi borders.

The surveyed plots lay on east periphery of arable grounds of strengthening Kich-Malka 1, partially leaving for their limits. Further to the east on distance about 600 m from extreme border of a modelled zone of agriculture there is a site terrasirovanija the second type the area of 4,5 hectares, revealed in a course deshifrirovanija aerial photographs (fig. 257). The obtained data demand field check, and the parity of these terraces with strengthening raises the doubts. Three more sites similar terrasirovanija are mapped by means of air photography within arable resource zones of strengthening Stupid Cape (the area of 3,9 hectares) and the Day nursery (the area of 0,9 and 1,6 hectares) (fig. 255). As well as in the above described case, for check of this information additional field researches are required.

The carried out calculations of potential quantity of the population of settlements of the seventh microzone allow to assume, that on 29 analyzed monuments could live simultaneously from 330 to 500 families, that in recalculation on 5-6 persons (Table 32) makes from 1650 to 3000 inhabitants. The peripheral arrangement of some settlements of the given microzone and presence of extensive equal spaces around, suitable for employment by agriculture, has caused considerable excess of counted number of inhabitants in comparison with that quantity which can be assumed proceeding from modern representation about monuments: for 16 of 29 settlements the minimum quantity domohozjajstv is reconstructed from 1 to 9 (Table 32), but also in this case it is not always comparable to data on constructions and the area of settlements. So, if the sizes of communities of inhabitants of strengthenings the Deaf Beam 1 and 2, Kugulsky, Kabardian 1, the Lermontovsky Rock 1 and 2, Sultannoe, Kich-Malka 1 and 2 quite correspond with number visible on a surface of constructions (Table 14) residing of the minimum collectives at 7-9 families on strengthenings the Kabanogorsky Ring 1, Turkmenia, the Igorsky Beam, High-mountainous 1, Kich - Malka 3 and settlement Kabardian Mysovoe 1 raises the big doubts. In even bolshej it concerns degree of some strengthenings, which number of inhabitants at the minimum calculations reaches 10-29 domohozjajstv (the Silent Corner, the Day nursery, the Red Sun, Dzerzhinka, the Cane Beam 1, Cherkassk, the Sultan-mountain, Verhneolhovsky 1, High-mountainous 2) (Table 32). Only extensive strengthened settlement Stupid Cape on which it has been fixed not less than 12 constructions, could contain 13-15 families, capable to live from the neighbouring

Overestimated are represented and the obtained data about the potential size of herd in recalculation on large horned livestock which could contain in vicinities of considered settlements. Two thirds of monuments possess the minimum pastbishchno-haying grounds, capable to support small herds to 100 goals. In the majority of similar cases the quantity of cattle on one domohozjajstvo varies from 0,3-0,4 to 5,7-9,7, and on one inhabitant it is necessary from 0,1 to 1,1-1,9 heads, that quite corresponds to ethnographic data. However, in some cases (Kabardian Mysovoe 1, the Deaf Beam 2) the quantity of goals on one family increases to 7,3-11,5 and even to 13,2-84,1 heads, that in recalculation on one potential inhabitant makes already 1,5-2,3 and 2,6-16,8 goals (Table 32).

Thus, for third of considered settlements the extensive pastbishchno-haying grounds, capable to support from 145 to 717 goals of large horned livestock are modelled. In half of cases (strengthening the Silent Corner, the Small Saddle 1, Verhneolhovsky 1, High-mountainous 1, Kich-Malka 2) on one domohozjajstv here is necessary from 14,9 to 60,5 goals, and on one inhabitant - from 3,0 to 12,1 heads (Table 32) that is represented obviously overestimated indicators.

Thus, the cited data about potential quantity of the population and the size the herds received during GIS-MODELLING of resource zones round settlements of a microzone 7 as well as in the above described cases, give a little overestimated information. Thus it is supposed, that all considered settlements sushchestvlvali simultaneously, had identical function as places of dwelling of the population which are living on self-maintenance and being homogeneous in social relation. However are available

It concerns first of all two strengthenings occupying tops of high hills and having, accordingly, rather high degree of the review of vicinities (High-mountainous 1 and Verhneolhovsky 1). From two these strengthenings all settlements of a microzone 7, except for the most northern and the most southern, and also a considerable part of the left coast of the river Birch (fig. 259) are surveyed practically. It is not excluded, that both data of settlement were not played by roles of economic cells, and were used by inhabitants of other strengthenings for supervision over surrounding territory.

Absolutely other functions were carried out, apparently, by strengthening Kugulsky which can be considered along with others ostantsovymi the strengthened settlements as the local authorities centres. It is necessary to stop on this question more in detail, and at the same time to sum up our supervision over features of moving alan the Kislovodsk hollow in V-VIII centuries
