3.6. Experiment on a material of an English pseudo-phrase

As the final stage of research we had been made the experiment aimed at acknowledgement / a refutation of idea about interaction of strategy and support at identification of a word. Ii. There were students of I course of faculty IJA and MK TvGU, it the forms including the following task stood out: write, how you understand, about what there is a speech in an offered phrase.

Also it was required to specify, what foreign languages are known by recipients, on task performance 5-7 minutes were taken away. We had been chose C.Friza's pseudo-phrase A diggled woggle uggled a wiggled diggte, made of nonexistent words, but keeping the base sintaktiko-morphological relations inherent in English language. We had been analysed 39 forms. The overwhelming majority of the analysed forms has been filled by the students studying English language (30 forms), from "Germans" and "Frenchmen" we have received 8 and 1 filled forms accordingly. Concerning guesses it is possible to explain such distribution of languages the most offered phrase: all Ii. Know, that a - an article of English language,-ed - the indicator of last time of a verb. The received results have allowed us to draw a conclusion on by what support the individual is guided at phrase identification in unfamiliar language and how they function.

On character of received answers Ii. It is possible to divide into three groups (fig. 3.14 see): Ii., made an attempt to translate a phrase into Russian (group 1), Ii., specified or on chasterechnuju an accessory of separate words of a phrase, or on their syntactic function (group 2), and Ii., learnt in the offered phrase Glokuju kuzdru... Let's notice, that the majority of representatives of group 1 - "Englishmen", "Germans" were included only into groups 2, 3, obviously, owing to that studying English language as the basic was easier to spend zvukobukvennye associations with words of English language (to dig, ugly, a wigи etc.), nevertheless, they were capable to see phrase structure. Almost all forms intending to "Frenchmen" have been left by the empty. However, small number of "Germans" and "Frenchmen" among participants of experiment (9 and 6 accordingly) hardly allows to judge unequivocally causes of failures and the given guesses (tab. 3.9 see).

The most part of group 1 studies English language as foreign, that explains such reactions: something dug up, will be dug on words DIGGLED, DIGGTE (compare English dig - to dig); has disfigured, disfigured, ugly, has spoilt, it is terrible on word UGGLED (compare English ugly - ugly), we will notice, that in answers of majority Ii.

Perception of a word; bad, flying on words WOGGLE, WIGGLED (it is obvious, in connection with similarity zvukobukvennogo a complex (worse, wing accordingly). Such answers testify To the importance of emotional perception, as bad / a good thing, for example, in the following answer also: the Bad thing has spoilt the good. Differently, Ii. Defined for itself, what element in the offer transfers the information, value with a sign "plus", what - with a sign "minus". In the same group we had been carried the recipients, tried to connect an event in a phrase with idea about google, most likely, owing to repeating o, g, l, forming phrase "drawing". Such behaviour Ii. Confirms idea about a support of the individual for a physical image of an element at its identification, in that case the word is perceived entirely (holistichesky the approach), without the analysis of parts making it. Besides, the similar answer speaks connection of encyclopaedic, background knowledge, personal experience and sotsiokulturnogo a context.

The examples resulted above confirm influence of an interference on a guess about value of an unfamiliar element. As before us a pseudo-phrase, it is difficult to judge advantage of this factor at word identification in this case. However carried out by us before research allow to speak about an interference as about there is nobody sorts "help", and as about "barrier" at guess realisation. The support on other languages describes the individual as the language person.

Coming back to decomposition strategy, we will notice, that it has been used by the overwhelming majority of participants of experiment that is accurately reflected in answers Ii. The most numerous group - groups 2 which have allocated - edкак the indicator of last time or a participle (DIGGLED, UGGLED, WIGGLED), have defined WOGGLE and DIGGTE as nouns as article A concerns them. Such answers have been given: 3 word - a noun, 2 - a sign describing it sushch., 4 - gl. In prosh. Is to the predicates which are subject etc. Answers, given herein, prevail at this group Ii., some have explained the understanding of a phrase graphic by, specifying on syntactic function of words, for example: A diggled woggle uggled a wiggled diggte. Similar answers speak about carrying out Ii. The logiko-rational analysis (the emotional component leaves on the second plan), connection of procedure of the analysis-synthesis, that confirms participation allocated with us before a metacomponent in the course of word identification.

Part Ii. It was limited to type answers: Any someone has made any something; Someone has made something; Someone studies something to do; Any someone does something with (something) any by someone etc. Such answers speak about acquaintance Ii. With structure of English language, rules of construction of the offer, an establishment of relations between words.

Knowledge Ii. Glokoj kuzdry., which can be carried to background knowledge, has served some kind of preadjustment for the certain scheme of understanding, therefore Ii. Have refused attempt "prointerpretirovat" a phrase in own way, the support went on already available knowledge and experience.

The results received from group 1, to the greatest degree illustrate harmonious functioning of various support, here the emotional and logiko-rational has begun appear "on the same level", that generates freak of the imagination and aspiration to "interpret" the offered phrase.

The analysis of the received data testifies to a support of the individual on the whole complex of support that allows to speak about plurality of sources of the information - since physical characteristics of a word / phrases and finishing personal experience perceiving and a context in the broad sense of the word. Such results do not contradict the conclusion made us earlier about interaction of strategy and support of different character at identification of a word owing to an inclusiveness of the person in a wide network
