Extensiveness of the offered program should not confuse collectors of a material on studying of local history since from them it was not required to give answers to all questions of the planned program.

Names of local lakes, the rivers, barrows, treasures, archeological finds, ancient monuments should be written down with value of accents, in the form of a genitive case. Reduction of explanations of names what gave them local population, and the legends connected with them was desirable.

The data received from the provincial scientific archival commissions, provincial scientific societies, zemskih and town councils, volost boards, from priests, old residents could be a source of the information for writing-book filling.

At subsection filling About barrows and tombs the author-composer asked to describe their site and the size, to explain the name, and to characterise found at excavation (the weapon, pots or crocks, coins and so forth), an arrangement of bones of buried, available signs or images on rocks in caves.

At the description of treasures it was offered to list that found in them (ancient money: Russian or non-russian; gold, silver or copper; the ancient weapon) and also to sketch coins and whenever possible to make a collection of the found things.

Further it was offered to list monuments of an antiquity of district (ancient churches, ruins of fortresses, locks, ruins of monasteries, buildings, the gardens, the become empty villages, plates with inscriptions etc.), and also to specify time of their construction, a condition external and an interior and furniture, an accessory of these monuments. It was possible to sketch or photograph these monuments.

In subsection About ancient reading and writing, papers, books tasks about manuscripts of ancient reading and writing, decrees, hand-written writing-books and ancient documents, old abc-books and books took places. It was necessary to describe safety of appearance and the general maintenance, to specify what in them historical data and lines of a local life of former time contain. At transfer of reading and writing and ancient manuscripts it was necessary to result the text of the first page, and at transfer of ancient books - the name, a place, year of the edition. If there was a possibility, it was offered to make from them exact copies or to photograph.

It was necessary to connect domestic history with local (to present legends and stories about former and ancient times: about princes, emperors, the Tatar attacks, Cossacks, the serfdom, about usages at the serfdom and so forth). It was offered to allocate the major events of local history, to specify, they had what relation to domestic history and at what sovereigns these events (House Rjurika were made and Romanovs) to list known figures who were born in edge or are connected it came sovej from activity with the given district. One of tasks has been devoted drawing up of the chronological table on history of local edge (it was necessary to name the dates concerning history of edge) and annals of events which in the given district occur.
Presentation of a result of work It was offered on the basis of collected material to make the general sketch on history of local edge.
